Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer and Waste Heat Boiler for Petrochemical Manufacturer

The Challenge

A large petrochemical manufacturer needed new equipment to comply with various stringent code requirements for air pollution emissions. Additional demands were to achieve a higher DRE, and minimize fuel consumption. This repeat customer came to us because of the proven quality of our systems and trust in our engineering and service teams. They needed a system that not only performed- but also lasted for decades in the field.

The Solution

Epcon carefully selects the appropriate technology for typical applications, to maximize the DRE, and reduce fuel consumption by using comprehensive Heat Recovery. Epcon decided on a 15,000 SCFM DFTO (Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer) to work in conjunction with a Waste Heat Boiler (WHB), with a 97%+ Heat Recovery equipped with a bypass to atmosphere to control the steam pressure and volume.

The Results

Epcon had full turn-key responsibility of designing manufacturing and commissioning the system on the job site, to be sure the equipment exceeded all operating requirements. The system ultimately allowed the facility to keep operating with reduced fuel demands, as they destroy nearly all process VOC’s.

This will be our fifth Thermal Oxidizer and Boiler combination custom-manufactured for the process needs of this loyal customer.
