Large Heat Treat Furnaces for the Manufacture of Offshore Drilling Tools

The Challenge

A manufacturer of offshore drilling tools needed to replace their outdated equipment and find a more efficient way to heat treat extremely large Drilling Tools. Epcon has manufactured equipment for all the major Oil companies, energy service companies and oil tool manufacturers all over the world and accepted the challenge.

The Solution

Epcon designed a series of Car bottom Heat-Treat Furnaces to accommodate the tools custom designs. Great care was put into ensuring the new systems footprint and layout would fit within the existing space constraints as the new replacement equipment went into the existing facility. These car- bottom furnaces are equipped with high velocity burners for an operating temperature of 1850 F.

The Results

These furnaces not only meet the challenge of Heat Treatment of Offshore Drilling Tools during the final stages of manufacturing, their robust construction has been able to withstand the constant high temperatures and extremely heavy batch loads up to 1,000,000 pounds.
