Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer for Midstream Petrochemical Operation

The Challenge

A large midstream manufacturer needed new equipment to comply with various stringent code requirements for air pollution emissions, efficiently handling the process stream laden with high solvent loading, containing HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants) and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

The Solution

This Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer (DFTO), with high solvent loading, containing HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants) and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) was designed for a local midstream company.  The system was designed with higher residence time, and higher operating temperature in the combustion chamber, 1500-1700 °F, in order to achieve 99%+ DRE (Destruction Removal Efficiency).

Epcon utilized its proprietary Venturi design to create turbulence for mixing the pollutants and Oxygen molecules, as our systems are designed with the Three (3) T’s:  Time, Temperature and Turbulence to yield a maximum destruction efficiency.

The Results

Epcon has full turn-key responsibility of designing manufacturing and commissioning the system on the job site, to be sure the equipment exceeded all operating requirements.

The DTFO’s allow the facility to keep operating as they destroy nearly all process VOC’s.
